Who still buy gold these days?

My mother-in-law showed me the gold bracelet she bought for her niece earlier this morning. My god, it's so expensive!!! Cost her more than Rm800 for that miserable thing. Old folks still have this idea of giving gold as wedding gifts to the younger generation. But i guess those getting married can expect really smaller items in gold now. I've not bought gold in ages and i'll pop by the goldsmith tomorrow. Hubby still owes me a wedding ring!!! But if i cant find any that i like there, i'll just get him to buy me some gold bullion from Monex, how about that. Great investment, right.
