It's better to invest than spend

Last month, a close relative of hubby's invited us along on an overseas trip. I told them we cant join them as we still have two little boys to care for and do not have that kind of money to throw around. Even if we can afford the trip, i'd rather use the money to buy some gold coins instead. I know many of you will laugh at me for saying this but that's just me. I prefer to use my money wisely as i work hard to earn it. By investing in gold coins, it will appreciate over the years. If i dont intend to sell it off for profit, i can always hand it down to my kids next time. So, dont you think it's much better to buy gold coins than go on some expensive overseas trip?
